At this point in time, Redo of Healer is basically still relevant because it became a meme. If you think the show was actually good, you have a few screws loose. Of course, it gets a 20/20 in terms of revenge but plot-wise and character-wise, you’re better off watching Courage the Cowardly Dog at that point. But, it makes the list because Keyaru had nothing in mind except for revenge.

Redo of Healer follows the story of Keyaru, one of the rare heroes that uses healing magic. And if you’re special, only two things can happen to you: first, you get praised as some sort of special savior like most Isekai MCs; and second, you become Keyaru. Unfortunately, Keyaru got the short end of the stick because he was basically kept like a pet. He was abused, tortured, and was treated more like a cockroach than a human.

However, an opportunity presented itself. Keyaru used his healing powers to go back in time. Now, he’s preparing everything he has for that sweet-sweet revenge and not a single one of the knows what’s coming.

Remember the chad I mentioned in the intro that did everything to become handsome just so he could get back on the girl that rejected him? Well, let me introduce,  Masamune-kun. This guy was rejected in the worst way possible, he was called “Piggy” by a girl that looked like a princess. Heartbreak changes a man, and it usually ends up making guys go to the gym. And that’s exactly what Masamune did.

Masamune, after becoming a high school student, starts his revenge story against Aki, the girl that rejected him. But it seemed like everything he did just disgusted her and he isn’t gaining any ground. On another note, someone sent him a letter calling him with that ugly nickname he got as a kid. Now, what will Masamune do? Will his plan even work now that someone knows his past? Will there ever be a season 2? Find out next time on…the anime that never gets a second season no matter how much fans cry!

It literally has Vengeance in its name so how can we not include it in this list and to top it all off, this didn’t happen in Japan! Highlander: The Search for Vengeance follows a Scottish man named Colin MacLeod who wants to get revenge on a guy named Marcus Octavius. So what did Marcus do that made Colin hunt him down? Well, Marcus killed Colin’s lover…about more than a hundred years ago. Sheeesh, talk about someone who can’t let go of the past. Now, Colin is in this post-apocalyptic future where New York has been consumed by the sea.

This show is pretty decent considering the fact that it’s like a knock-off of the Terminator and the Gladiator in one. It’s basically the most American anime you’ll see and if you’re into that, well go ahead and knock this one out. It’s not a series but a movie so this’ll be worth the watch.

We’ve already heard of the word Kamui before and it’s in one of the most popular anime of all time. You know, the jutsu Obito uses to escape or teleport. But The Dagger of Kamui is completely unrelated to that at all! The Dagger of Kamui is an older anime movie about a guy named Jiro. His family was murdered, he was then framed of that murder, and eventually trained to become an assassin. Now, with another ninja and a slave, they go to the land of the free, America, and the giant of the east, Russia…all in the name of revenge!

The Dagger of Kamui has the classic revenge story with a bit of Jojo elements. I mean, we got ninjas, pirates, treasure, and America! If that doesn’t scream bizarreness, I don’t what does. The animation, without a doubt, is old and is mainly suited for anime fans that watched quite a lot of anime. So if you’re a newbie, it might not be a good fit for you but who knows, maybe you like 80’s anime.

If you’re an edgy teenager, you’ll love Blood C. There’s blood, swords, monsters, and a whole looot of revenge! Nothing screams revenge more than a school girl with a katana running around slashing everything she sees left and right. That’s basically what Blood C is. There’s not actually a lot of plot involved and the character writing isn’t that detailed but what’ll get you is the non-stop action and crazy fight choreography.

The story of Blood C revolves around Saya Kisaragi. Everything she knew about her life would be broken in an instant. Even though she knew that there were monsters that threaten her village, a prophecy is about to unravel and her role as a shrine maiden and a protector will soon be put into question. As her world gets destroyed she’s on a one way trip of revenge to find the one responsible and put a stop to this catastrophe

I think you know why everyone loves Black Butler and no, it’s not because the story is good. But because of a man called Sebastian Michaelis. This man has more simps than any other demon character in anime, especially in his English dub version. Black Butler had a good start but kind of fell off as it slowly diverged from the manga but hey, at least you get good looking characters!

Black Butler follows the story of Ciel Phantomhive. As a child, Ciel went through literal hell as his entire household was killed and the only two survivors were him and his twin. They were bought as ritual sacrifices and as Ciel watched his twin being murdered on the table in front of him, he rejected the existence of God. While in despair, a butler clad in black was summoned, the demon known as Sebastian Michaelis. Together they burned the cathedral down and now are on their way to find the truth behind Ciel’s past. What did Ciel’s power cost? His soul.

Forbidden Love. A concept that has taken everyone’s attention and was even the thing that made Romeo and Juliet one of the most legendary stories of all time. In Basilisk, there are two known Shinobi clans, the Iga and Kouga. As centuries of bloodshed ceased, the heirs of both clans fell in love. It became a beacon of peace and harmony but it didn’t last that long as both clans started a battle royale to decide the heir of the Tokugawa Shogunate. These two lovers will now have to choose between duty or love.

There isn’t much revenge in Basilisk apart from the hatred of the Iga and Kouga clan. Basilisk mostly focuses on the love between Gennosuke and Oboro and it is one amazing rollercoaster ride. The story is simple but it leaves a deep impact on you. It’s like if Romeo and Juliet were serial killers. But OHHHH THE FIGHTS! The fights are something else and they’ll always leave your mouth wide open. Imagine ninjas in a battle royale! How sick is that!?

Do you like conspiracies? Well, Canaan might just be the anime for you. Reading the synopsis on MAL or Anime Planet is a far cry from what this show offers. Canaan has an amazing plot and very well-written characters. The conspiracy is slowly unraveled as the story progresses and accompanied by the amazing animation, one could describe this show using one word from the bible of the lads, “lit”.

Canaan follows the story of well…Canaan and several other characters like Maria Oosawa. They start off in Shanghai, China as Maria searches for some possible hit news. They get involved in a fight between a girl and unknown thugs. As the battle closes in on Maria, Canaan arrives and saves her. But the troubles don’t end there as a greater mystery is about to reveal itself, and Maria and Canaan must do everything they can to stop a biological attack that will burn the world.

With only 5 episodes, you could say that Afro Samurai is the Short King of Revenge anime. The plot is pretty straightforward, nothing special. The character writing is okay as well but what makes this anime shine is its animation and fight scenes. I mean, the guy is voiced by Samuel L. Jackson in English! Who doesn’t want that? He also fights monks with bazookas and a guy that has three arms which is pretty weird but still entertaining. Afro Samurai is not an anime you should watch because of the story, it’s just dumb fun and a whole lot of gore.

The story is pretty simple. Guy gets his father killed, trains, becomes OP, and gets revenge. Afro’s father was killed by a man called Justice becoming the Number One. Now, Afro is the Number Two and he has been given the chance to challenge the Number One. He fights everyone, from robotos to, like I said, a guy with three arms just to get to Justice and claim his vengeance.

If you didn’t know, Gungrave is actually based on a PS2 game but the anime tells the story in a pretty different way. It follows the story of two best friends named Harry MacDowel and Brandon heat. They spent their whole lives at the bottom of society, doing everything from stealing to your typical bar fights. They’re now on their way to rise to the top of the food chain as they join a mafia syndicate. Harry wants to become the boss and rise up while Brandon will support him. But things don’t always go as planned as their friendship is put to the test, as revenge and betrayal is just waiting around the corner.

Gungrave, without a doubt, is an amazing anime. It doesn’t solely focus on revenge like Afro Samurai does but it gives more emphasis to the character dynamics between Harry and Brandon. The bond between bros, the trust, loyalty, and the redemption arc is what makes this anime so good. So take good care of your bros because you never know when you guys will join the mafia.

Seraph of the End or Owari no Seraph is a pretty popular anime and is loved by a lot of people around the world. It currently has 2 seasons and 24 episodes. When’s the next season gonna come? No one knows because it’s been six-long years. I only gave a score of 16 in terms of revenge because it died out around the later half of the 1st season and in the 2nd season. The MC was just like Eren but instead of titans we have vampires and instead of him turning into a titan, he turns into Satan.

So suffer because I’m not going to tell how and why he turns into Satan. The plot of Seraph of the End follows a family of orphans in a post-apocalyptic world. All of mankind above the age of 13 was wiped out by a virus and now these children became livestock for vampires. Yuuichirou along with Hyakuya and other members of his family tried to escape but they were caught. Everyone sacrificed themselves so that Yuuichirou could escape into the outside world. There, he becomes a member of the Moon Demon Company and vows to kill every last vampire standing in his way.

What do you think is the ultimate betrayal? Is it killing your own family? Leaving someone to die? NO! The ultimate betrayal was done by Yoshino Takigawa. This scum of society dated his best friend’s sister. Talk about breaking the bro code. He should be executed by The Council. But I think Yoshino had enough as everything he had disappeared before his very eyes and now he’s on the path of revenge. But what exactly happened?

Yoshino and Mahiro were best friends or more like brothers. Mahiro’s sister or Yoshino’s girlfriend passed away and Mahiro disappeared without any notice. One day, Yoshino gets attacked by an unknown girl and Mahiro appears out of nowhere to save him. Together, they go on a journey to find the truth about their loved one’s death and something called the “Tree of Exodus” which can destroy or save the world as they know it. The past will come to haunt them in one way or another and will their bond as best friends hold through?

Not gonna lie, Guilty Crown would make for a really good band name. And OH MY LORD! The OP of this anime is a banger! Do not skip the opening or I will find you, and I will smack you. Guilty Crown is undoubtedly one of those shows that have been produced in tip-top shape however, revenge isn’t the main concept of the show. They do want to get revenge but it’s not on a single person but instead on an organization and it’s not for their personal interest but for the betterment of Japan.

Guilty Crown’s concept is well…unique in its own way. It follows the story of Shuu Ouma, a high school student who gets involved in a war between the GHQ, the one that governs Japan, and Funeral Parlor, the ones that want to liberate Japan. He finds himself with Inori Yuzuhira and gets the Power of the Kings. This highschool kid now has the ability to save all of Japan and protect Inori from the GHQ’s forces. I know that was a lot to take in but trust me, the music will handle the rest just watch the anime.

Why do vampires always get involved when it comes to revenge? I don’t know because just like in Seraph of the End, Sirius the Jaeger has these blood-sucking monsters attack humans, a special force comes in to fight them, and there’s one entity that will determine the fate of the entire world. The revenge aspect comes in with our MC, Yuliy, a young boy with werewolf blood and the only survivor after his village was wiped out during a vampire attack.

Yuliy is now part of a group known as Jaegers, individuals who fight vampires and are trying to find the Ark of Sirius, an artifact that holds the balance between world destruction and its salvation.

Sirius the Jaeger is a bit of an underrated series as it puts in its own twist to the now cliche vampire genre. There are moments where the series is a bit slow but it does pick up its pace and the character dynamics are a must-watch especially between Yuliy and a certain someone.

The Rising of the Shield Hero kinda fell off on its 2nd season but I guarantee you that the story is only just beginning. The 2nd season just didn’t give the pink haired traitor, Malty, enough spotlight. She may be crazy but she did carry the series. The revenge isn’t as high since it was only highlighted in season 1 and the story onwards will focus more on the mystery behind the Waves of Catastrophe. But, if you have enough patience, Shield Hero will blow your mind as the world-building and the overall flow of the plot will become better.

The Rising of the Shield Hero follows the story of Naofumi Iwatani, who gets transported to another world as the Shield Hero, the weakest of the Four Cardinal Heroes. Everyone looked down on Naofumi and he was even accused of harassing the princess. As he goes on his own path, he meets people that became his sword, his allies, and the reason why he smiles. Naofumi was unlucky at the beginning but he did get one amazing redemption arc. Don’t call it The Falling of the Shield Hero because you, my beautiful weeb, haven’t seen anything yet.

Why does Claymore pop up in almost every recommendation list? It’s just a solid anime, ain’t it? You got some badass girl power which is a bit rare in anime and the action scenes are just amazing. There’s the classic revenge story and although the animation is a bit old, just think about Bleach. Bleach became one of the big 3 and gotta be honest, the animation isn’t as good as let’s say, Naruto. Bleach fans don’t kill me, don’t be babies. ADMIT IT!

Claymore is the story of Clare, a half-youma and half-human who goes on a journey to find the Youma that made her life a living hell. One day, she saves Raki and the duo start traveling together. As they cleanse village after village, they take steps closer to the Youma Clare is hunting while Raki learns more about Claymores and the mysteries that surround these female warriors.

Think Afro Samurai or Basilisk don’t have enough blood? Then get ready for Shigurui because this show might just make you watch RomCom series for the rest of your life. If you watch the trailer, it literally begins with an old man putting a katana into another guy’s mouth. The animation quality is quite similar to Claymore but hey, don’t judge an anime by its animation. And if you’re into Samurai, bruh, it’s like a match made in heaven. The back and forth fights between the two swordsmen in this series will make the revenge story in Claymore look mediocre. It’s not one-sided revenge but both rivals want to defeat the other with all their heart.

Shigurui follows the story of two apprentices named Irako Seigen and Fujiki Gennosuke. Irako is blind while Fujiki only has one arm. But don’t underestimate these guys because they are apprentices of the greatest swordsman in Japan. The two join a fighting tournament where steel swords of Samurai clash and blood colors the ground. Even though they are from one school, they will fight each other for their honor, for that is their fate, and that is where they will become legends.

Okay, I admit there’s not a lot of revenge in Castlevania but it is a giga chad show. And what makes it more amazing is that it’s based on a game and not a manga like other shows. The fight scenes are one of the best anime has ever created and the unique western-like art style gives more emphasis to that post-apocalyptic medieval vibe. The characters are written so well that I can just make a 30 page thesis on why this show deserves to be in the top 10 best anime of all time. SO WATCH IT BECAUSE IT’S SO UNDERRATED!

Castlevania follows the story of Trevor Belmont, Alucard (that’s Dracula spelled backwards, fyi), and Sypha Belnades. Together, this unlikely trio went on a journey to stop Dracula from destroying the entire world as monsters of the night roam the land of Wallachia. Dracula wants to wipe out all of humanity after they killed his wife, Lisa Tepes, the only woman he ever loved. The revenge story is not on the side of the heroes but on Dracula, the antagonist. This is one of the most interesting revenge stories as you see why the villain wanted to annihilate mankind, and that he is just a broken man who lost the love of his life.

This is one creepy show that I won’t actually watch at night. The concept of this anime is literally revenge and nothing else. In this anime, if you want to get revenge, remember to dig one grave for the one you hate, and another for yourself. You can get revenge on anyone by using a website and when the hand of the clock hits midnight, a girl wearing a black sailor uniform with red eyes will bring your person of choice straight to hell. However, when your time comes, there’s no chance for you to go to heaven as the price you’ll pay is that you’ll be sent directly to hell.

There’s no cohesive plot to Hell Girl but instead, each episode focuses on a different person which is somewhat similar to Death Parade. Each new episode gives you a breath of fresh air as you get different situations but one thing is similar throughout the series, Hell Girl will always be there.

Together with her childhood friend and bodyguard, Son Hak, they travel the world to find ancient beings that she needs to stand by her side as she fights to take back her kingdom.

I kid you not, this show has the best character development in this entire list, well, except for Lelouch and Eren because those two are GOATS. Yona’s transformation from a sheltered maiden to a complete badass is super satisfying. The show does a great job in making the audience root for Yona and will make you glued to the screen every step of the way.

Gankutsuou or The Count Of Monte Cristo is an anime that is unique both in its premise and its animation. It’s like Shakespeare and Da Vinci made an anime and boom! Gankutsuou. It got 20 in terms of revenge because revenge literally drives the progress of the plot as well as the main motives of the characters. Some even call it the greatest revenge story in anime because of the beautiful execution and how the characters’ destinies intertwined.

The Count of Monte Cristo follows three main characters. Of course, we have the Count of Monte Cristo himself, and Albert de Morcerf and Franz d’Epinay, a Viscount and a Baron. As they attend the Carnival of Luna, Albert and the Count grow closer but what Luna don’t know is that someone is pulling something behind the scenes. It was no other than the Count himself, he wiggled his way to enact the perfect revenge he has been planning for all these years.

But enough dilly dallying, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens is all about REVENGEEEE. I’ll just call it Ramens since the title is too long.

Ramens is all about an unlikely duo of characters. Xianming Lin is a hitman that’s been tasked to kill Zenji Banba who had some beef with the organization Xianming has been working with. Instead of killing Zenji, Xianming offers him to work together with him and form a team. Together, they form a motley crew of surprising individuals as Xianming tries to find the one who murdered his sister and it may be just right below his nose this whole time.

Monster is a legend and the best drama anime you could ever find. You want action? Monster’s got you. You want some mystery? Don’t worry, that’s Monster’s entire concept. You want revenge and a haunting past? The MC is all about that. Monster has everything you need and it executes it beautifully. This is without a doubt, a modern masterpiece. Even though the animation is a bit old, nothing’s stopping you from witnessing one of the most well written anime of all time.

Monster follows the story of Kenzou Tenma, a neurosurgeon that chose to save a boy named Johan Liebert over a mayor. He lost everything, from his status to his wife. Suddenly, mysterious murders happen and the director of the hospital passes away. Tenma became the hospital director and all seemed well until he met Johan Liebert once more. The boy he saved became a psychopathic serial killer and became the ghost from his past that always haunts him. Tenma is now on a journey to bury his past sins and take down the monster he once saved.

91 Days has that Peaky Blinders vibe going on and it might probably be one of the best mafia revenge stories out there. It follows the story of Angelo Lagusa who saw everyone he loved get massacred by a Mafia family known as the Vanetti. He decided to create a new identity under the fake name Avilio Bruno. He was given the chance to join the Vanetti family and is now one-by-one, staining the town of Lawless with the blood of those involved in his childhood tragedy.

Why is it titled 91 Days? I have no idea because it took Angelo seven years to start his revenge. One thing that spoke to me while watching this anime was the character writing. The characters are not bland and actually feel like complex humans. The plot was surprising and each episode will make you want to watch more because most of it were just cliffhangers. The animation can be a bit “meh” at times but hey, most of the top anime here don’t have top-notch animation like Demon Slayer, it’s all about the plot boiiiii.

R.I.P. to the legend that made this amazing series, Kentaro Miura. Even though the manga is unfinished, it still changed the lives of everyone that read it. There are two adaptations of Berserk and let’s just say the 2016 adaptation is the reason why I gave animation a 6. I gotta be real with you guys, it made me feel sad at how bad they messed up adapting Berserk but hey, we have the 1997 one. Other than that, we have the amazing plot and characters and that sweet sweet revenge story that isn’t like any other.

The MC of Berserk is Guts, a man literally born on the battlefield… and that was the only thing he knew his entire life. But that was until he met Griffith, the man who will become his role model, best friend, and the one who will let him meet the first ever family he knew, the Band of the Hawk. But after that, everything went downhill as Griffith took everything Guts had. His friends, his comrades, his lover, all in the name of power. Now, Guts is back at it alone, and he’s the only one that can kill his best friend turned traitor.

I don’t have enough meme knowledge to understand the joke but I think that it’s similar to the Pickle Rick joke. And come on, who doesn’t know about Attack on Titan? Everyone and their mom knows just how much of a modern classic this one is. The revenge aspect wasn’t exactly retained throughout the entire series but it was the main premise during season 1 and a bit of season 2.

The story of AOT revolves around Eren Jaeger. Humanity is trapped inside titanic walls and what roams outside them are beings known as Titans that do nothing else but hunt humans. On the flip side of things, Eren’s knowledge about the truth of the world and the true nature of the titans will shock everyone to the core. We all know how Eren became humanity’s last hope, but will he be their demise as well?

I just want to say that this is just an overall solid anime in terms of plot, character writing, animation, and in terms of revenge.

Blade of Immortal is about Manji, the Hundred Man Killer, who is now on a path to atone for his sins after he was cursed by a nun. He meets Rin Asano, who is looking for someone to get revenge for her parents’ death. Manji reluctantly agrees and says that he will do as Rin wishes for only four years. Now, these two individuals will have to work together to break Manji’s curse and to get Rin’s Vengeance

I beg of you to understand that I rated Vinland Saga only 18 in terms of revenge because I already know what’s going to happen after the first season. And for you guys that were into it because of the action, you’ll definitely be surprised once the second season airs. Vinland Saga is a very solid series both in the manga and in the anime. The animation was crisp to the core and the character writing, especially for Askeladd, was downright legendary. Do not miss this show because I will personally sue you if you do. Tis’ a crime!

Vinland Saga is about Thorfinn, a young lad on a rough path of revenge after his father was killed by a man known as Askeladd. He joins Askeladd’s crew and as time went by he became a dual-wielding killing machine. Thorfinn wants to beat Askeladd in a duel to bring back his father’s honor and to get vengeance once and for all. As vikings will be vikings, Thorfinn is thrown into a world of bloodshed where he will question everything he once knew and will know. Vinland Saga is not only about revenge, it is about how a boy grows and accepts the past while looking forward to the future.

We have another oldie but goodie here, my beautiful weebs. Fist of the North Star just radiates that Sigma Male energy and if you want to know what a true man is, watch this show because Kenshirou will show you the way of the giga chads. Muscles here, muscles there, this is just nonstop action but oh boy, the plot will leave a deep impact on you. It follows the classic revenge story and just like a game the hero will have to save his lover who was kidnapped by his rival. Just like Super Mario, am I right?

We have Kenshirou who, in their year which is 19XX, is on a journey to find his lover Yuria and beat down Shin, the one who took her away from him. In every step of the way, Kenshirou helps the innocent using Hokuto Shinken, one of the deadliest martial arts in their world. Through helping people, Kenshirou suddenly becomes a hero in this forsaken world where violence is around every corner.

THIS IS A LEGENDARY SHOW WITH THE BEST ENDING AMONG ALL ANIME AND I WON’T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY! FIGHT ME! Code Geass was a rollercoaster ride of a show and it hit the landing perfectly. Like in the circus where they fly in the air and go back to the ground in perfect form. That is what Code Geass is and that is what it will always be. The plot is pristine! The characters have so much depth! The animation is beautiful for its time! And revenge is always there.

Code Geass is all about Lelouch vi Britannia, an exiled prince who is now living as a student in Area 11 or more commonly known as Japan before it was conquered by the Britannian empire. As he was caught in the crossfire between rebel forces and Britannian soldiers, he met a mysterious woman known as C.C. who gave him the Geass. He becomes the beacon of hope for Area 11 under the alias Zero but he has something far greater in the works. He will get revenge on the family that abandoned him and his sister and make a world where there is only peace. He is the greatest mastermind in anime, and he will bring Britannia to its knees.

Annddddd at NUMBER 1, we have Dororo! Dororo is the best revenge anime according to yours truly. It made me cry, it made men cry, women cry, yo! It even made my dog cry. That’s just how much this show triggers the emotions of its viewers. Of course, revenge is the main concept of Dororo and it fits in perfectly with the plot and the character’s motives. The animation, especially the fight scenes, were super clean as well. So just watch it please!

Dororo follows the story of Hyakkimaru, a boy who was born without body parts, and even skin, after his father traded it with demons in exchange for his land’s prosperity. He was saved by a monk and he is now on a journey to kill all the demons to reclaim his lost body parts. As he goes on this perilous road, he meets Dororo, an orphan who joins him in his quest for vengeance. These two characters stick together through thick and thin as the hollow Hyakkimaru learns human emotion bit by bit. He feels happiness, care, love, and sadness. An unlikely duo, forsaken by the world, will make their own path where they will finally call each other home.

Conclusion

That was it, my edgy weebs, the best revenge anime you could find! What I do here is legit and all of these anime proved their worth to be on this list. Trust me, I’m as real as that white van that always hands candy to kids. If you like this recommendation, leave us a comment below. Also, let us know if we missed some anime or maybe your probable  number 1 revenge anime. This is one of the most handsome writers in the world, Sayonara!
