33. Cooking Masterboy

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
17/20 6/10 7/10 6/10 36/50

Okay, this next anime is one of the anime I grew up watching.  This anime is about the journey of a young boy named Mao.

It all began in an ailing Emperor and a shattered kingdom are the backdrop in late 19th century China.

It was a time when elite chefs from all around China competed to become China’s greatest chef. In a nation where criticizing a renowned chef or messing with cookery can put you in prison, imitating one is as bad as usurping power. Chefs strive for respect, power, and even fame, but also risk losing everything.

Mao became a Super Chef when his mother, Pai, known as the Fairy of Cuisine, died. Before taking his mother’s position as the Master Chef, travelling to China to learn more about the numerous techniques of cooking, hoping to become a great chef similar to his mother.

This next anime is very cute and girly. If you’re into cute stuff, other than your crush, this next anime is best suited for you.

This is about Koizumi, a beautiful high school girl who would go to any length to satisfy her need for ramen, even if it means standing in the heat for hours or going hundreds of kilometers away from home.

Those previously lonely excursions, however, are suddenly disrupted when Yuu Oosawa develops a crush on Koizumi and starts to accompany her on her excursions without her will. The countless varieties of ramen are shown to Yuu, who is undoubtedly the greatest ramen aficionado in history, while Koizumi’s huge hunger continues to astound her.

I know you’re a bit curious about this kind of cuteness, you may start watching Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles to know more.

31. Dagashi Kashi

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
17/20 7/10 8/10 5/10 37/50

This next anime is a 12-episode anime about food, candy to be specific. The story began around Traditional Japanese chocolates and confections that may be found at Shikada Dagashi, a small company in the countryside run by the Shikada family for many generations.

In spite of his father’s urging, Kokonotsu Shikada, an aspiring manga artist, refuses to inherit the Shikada family business. While Hotaru Shidare’s presence may be a harbinger of things to come, it might also be a warning. Kokonotsu’s father is missing, and Hotaru is trying to find him so she may persuade him to work for Shidare Corporation, a world-renowned candy manufacturer. Initially, the senior Shikada dismisses Hotaru’s suggestion, but he later states that he may reconsider if Hotaru can convince Kokonotsu to take over the family company.

This is the beginning of Hotaru’s mission to teach the youngsters about the real pleasures of dagashi! You can continue the story by watching Dagashi Kashi.

30. Wakako-zake

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
17/20 8/10 6/10 6/10 37/50

This next story is about Murasaki Wakako, who is 26 years old and likes going out to drink and eat as things go bad at work, will resonate with everyone who appreciates eating and cooking.

In this cartoon, Wakako goes on countless journeys by herself, as she drinks and eats in such a variety of combinations.

The reason why this anime is included in our list of anime about cooking may be puzzling to some readers. More information may be found by watching Wakako-zake.

29. Cooking Papa

17/20 8/10 6/10 7/10 38/50

28. Gourmet Girl Graffiti

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 8/10 6/10 7/10 39/50

This next recommendation I have for you is a 12-episode anime aired in winter of 2015. Well, if you want some culinary stuff, this anime is one of my cutest recommendations so far.

The story began around what the late grandma of Ryou Machiko told her, at least according to Ryou Machiko’s own personal experience. Ryou’s culinary prowess is unmatched for a student in his or her grade, but lately, despite the fact that his or her food seems tasty and smells welcoming, it has been disappointing.

Kirin Morino, Ryou’s second cousin, has just started cramming in school and attends the very same school like Ryou, so her aunt informs Ryou that she’ll be spending every weekend with her since she’ll be staying on her every other weekend.

I believe that the love for cooking is highly contagious. If you want to know what I’m talking about, you can watch Gourmet Girl Graffiti to know more.

27. The way of the Househusband

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
19/20 8/10 6/10 6/10 39/50

This next anime we have on our list was aired in 2014. As it is an anime series that includes about, this anime took part in our hearts, I mean not in a butchery-related manner, but in a more figurative way.

This story is about Tatsu, a legend known by the name Immortal Dragons. All of that turned into nothing when he was transformed into the role of domestic husband. It is quite funny how a legend turns into a house husband. It is kinda cute tho!

I know you’re a bit curious about the happenings there, but you may start knowing it by watching The Way of the Househusband.

26. Coffee Ikaga Deshou

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
16/20 8/10 9/10 7/10 40/50

Upon reading the title, you may have the idea what comes next, right? Well, this next anime is mainly about coffee. This anime started airing in 2018.

The story revolves on a food truck that mainly serves coffee in which the barista creates each customer’s own cup of java. Customers may relax and unwind with coffee that has been made with sincerity, care, and dedication.

If you really love coffee and anime at the same time, you may start watching Coffee Ikaga Deshou. Hail all coffee lovers! Iced or hot, both are fine!

25. Drifting Dragons

drifting dragons

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
16/20 8/10 8/10 8/10 40/50

This next anime is one of my recommendations on anime about food so far. This anime began as there are dragons, who govern the skies.

From what they are seen , they seem to be a grave danger, but in reality, they are an important source of medication, oil, and also food to eat for many people.

Dragons are hunted by people who want to capture them. In their airships, they search for dragons far above the earth. The Quin Zaza and its crew are the focus of this tale.

I know you’re a bit curious about dragon stuff, well ,you can start watching why Drifting Dragons are recommended in this list of anime with food stuff on it.

24. Antique Bakery

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 8/10 8/10 7/10 41/50

This next anime is a BL that includes foods on it. This anime began on a terrible day in high school when he had to confess his affections for Tachibana. Distinguished pastry chef and out homosexua playboy Ono has achieved his lifelong ambition.

It’s unclear to Ono as to what his new position at Tachibana entails.

Is it just me, or does anybody else get the impression that Ono is single? How long till Ono’s ex-boyfriend gets his karma? Ono’s cake boy turned out to be an ex-middleweight boxing champion.

If you’re interested in finding out what happens next, it’s time to dive into Antique Bakery.

23. Mister Ajikko

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 9/10 7/10 7/10 41/50

This next anime is something you can binge watching. It is composed of 99 episodes so you can start watching it now.

The story revolves around Ajiyoshi, a talented chef who works with his mother to run the restaurant. When Murata Genjiro shows up at the restaurant one day, he is taken aback by the deliciousness and delicacy of the katsu-don that Youichi has cooked.

The Aji-oh Building then invites Youichi to take part in a spaghetti cooking competition with Marui, the building’s Italian chef. In the contest, Youichi’s innovative culinary concepts and desire for delivering the finest to his guests proved to be enough to overcome Marui. As a result, Youichi finds himself in a culinary arms race with his opponents.

22. Cooking’ Idol Ai! Mai! Main

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 9/10 8/10 6/10 41/50

This next anime is good for all kids and has a fun-filled genre. It started airing in 2009 and ended in 2013.

Cooking Idol is the show that all of the children in this series watch, and also their favorite. In this anime, Main, the main character of this story, teaches you how to make a variety of delectable dishes. Simply, this anime will make  you crave for more food.

The usage of a live-action portion in Cookin’ Idol Ai! Mai! Main is an intriguing addition.

Fukuhara Haruka is shown in the flesh. Her voice is used to portray Main in the anime adaptations. Fukuhara attempts to recreate the dish from her anime counterpart’s recipe using only real-world products and equipment.

Well, I am not saying something bad about the adaptation, but I recommend you to watch the anime, because as a person who really loves anime, watching adaptations kinda make me sick, exaggeratedly.

21. Muteki Kanban Musume

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
17/20 8/10 9/10 8/10 42/50

Just like the last one, this next anime also is a fun anime to watch. It has comedy and actions within it. The title of this comedy’s English version, Unbeatable Delivery Girl, says it all.

Miki Onimaru works as a delivery girl at her mother’s restaurant, which is operated by her mother. Miki’s attitude is the antithesis of the Chinese ramen shop.

Despite being funny to some, Miki’s outgoing and often obnoxious demeanor irritates others. The Muteki Kanban Musume benefits greatly from her over-the-top antics.

The series also has several food-related scenes. With this reason, this anime is known to be a good part of this list.

20. Walking Meat

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
17/20 9/10 9/10 7/10 42/50

Personally, I do not like this next anime, but I believe there are people who would like and give interest to this anime, that’s why I included it here on this list. You can watch it now if you’re curious about it. Just look for walking meat on any of your streaming websites.

The story of this anime Walking Meat has a strong culinary basis. As a result, this is the only reason it has been included on this list at all. Those with weak stomachs should avoid watching this program.

In the end, this series is all about tasty zombies, which is why it’s so weird. Rather than running from the undead, individuals in this zombie-centric story devise clever methods to consume them—sautéed, boiled, and squeezed.

Flesh Inc. used African voodoo practices to deliberately manufacture zombies for the express goal of commercializing them via the food business.

It’s not only hamburgers and pet food that the program incorporates lab-grown zombies into, but also a variety of cosmetics. An absurd tale is introduced by three self-centered millennials working at Flesh Inc. They become stuck in a fully mechanized zombie farm.

In this oddly fascinating anime, they are put into a survival situation they never expected to find themselves in with their ‘techno-tard’ boss.

19. Ben-to

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
17/20 9/10 8/10 8/10 42/50

This next anime is, I believe, a fun anime to watch. It starts with safety and convenience as the only two of the many benefits that come with living in an apartment complex that also has a supermarket. It all goes sideways, though, when the business in question has one of its nighttime half-off deals.

Suddenly, everyone’s attention seems to be drawn to the still-unsold bento boxes. In more ways than one, the inhabitants are clamoring for meals. A Black Friday-style struggle for products turns friends into adversaries as the business comes under attack by customers full of pride and dignity.

There are Wolves and Dogs in this game, with the former being used to describe the winners. It’s You Satou who has unwittingly entered this battle zone.

Yarizui also summons Hana Oshiroi, a female he observed watching the “fights” from the stands. To help the two understand the difference between dogs and wolves, Sen Yarizui begins teaching them. His ‘Half-Priced Food Lovers Club’ also enrolls them. You and Hana are instructed on the need to engage in combat in order to get sustenance.

18. Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 8/10 8/10 8/10 42/50

This next anime is written by Aiko Koyama. It began airing in 2021 and ended in 2022. I include this anime to this list because I think it is one of the most worthy of being here.

The story begins when Sumire and Kiyo traveled to Kyoto with the goal to become maiko. However, due to an unforeseen turn of circumstances, Kiyo finds himself working as a live-in chef at Maiko for a while. Their narrative takes place in Kyoto’s Kagai district, which includes the maiko districts and Geiko. Well, I personally wanted to visit Kyoto, but I don’t have any knowledge of these districts.

Kiyo provides them with nutritious home-cooked meals on a regular basis, while Sumire works hard to achieve her goal of becoming the once-in-a-century maiko.

Step inside the glitzy Kagai and let the behind-the-scenes tales and Kiyo’s cooking episodes fill your emotions with warmth. Keep an eye out for this heartwarming story of two childhood friends who support and encourage one another as they grow up together.

17. Oishinbo: Japanese Cuisine

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 9/10 9/10 7/10 43/50

The next one we have here is one of the best selling with 135 million sales and  also the most celebrated cooking manga of all time, and now turned into an anime.

Tzai News commissioned the Ultimate Menu, a model supper that reflects the pinnacle of Japanese culinary perfection, to mark its centenary anniversary.

Even though she is a pessimist who is lacking initiative, Yamaoka Shiro is an expert in the culinary arts. She’s been assigned the most essential task in the world.

I highly recommend you to watch Oishinbo: Japanese Cuisine if you’re inquisitive about how this manga became one of the best-selling ever, as the anime adaptation will answer some of your questions.

16. Ristorante Paradiso

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 9/10 8/10 8/10 43/50

Well, the next anime I recommend is Ristorante Paradiso. A western style of food will come next on this list.

It revolves around Nicollete, the protagonist of this anime. While still a toddler, Olga abandoned her and went to Rome, where she later married and had a second child.

She goes to Rome as a young girl with the intention of destroying her mother’s life. Olga is waiting for Nicoletta in the Casetta dell’Orso restaurant as she enters.

In the face of their wise smiles and kind words, she feels helpless. It’s an odd place, run entirely by middle-aged guys with spectacles. Before she even realizes it, she becomes sucked into the lovely romance of everyday life in Italy.

Nicollete’s voyage to Ristorante Paradiso is now available for your watching pleasure.

15. Bartender

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 9/10 8/10 8/10 43/50

This anime focuses on a different method of preparing meals. Not quite food, but beverages may be the main subject of this anime.

A bartending virtuoso known as Ry Sasakura is the focus of the film. When Ry returns from his study abroad experience in France, he will work at Lapin as his senior bartender’s assistant.

Later, he opened his own pub, the Eden Hall, in Tokyo’s Ginza district, hidden away in a little alley. According to speculations, visitors to Eden Hall are unable to access the venue without the host’s authorization.

It’s an understatement to say that Sasakura is known as the Glass of the Gods since he always knows just what to serve his guests.

Bartender is a great anime to watch if you want to learn more about Glass of the Gods!

14. Restaurant To Another World

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 8/10 9/10 9/10 44/50

The next anime recommendation took place at a café that has been around for a long time.

Youshoku no Nekoya is a cafe located on the building’s lower floor, close to the office street. Office employees in the area have relied on it for more than 50 years. Despite its moniker, there is a vast variety of food on the menu. It’s a cafeteria for a planet that’s distinctive in its own way.

In fact, Nekoya hides a dark secret in her sleeve. The cafeteria is closed to the general public on Saturdays to accommodate special guests. When the bell rings, customers from all over the globe pour into the restaurant.

The meal served to the general public is the same, but the distinguished guests find it unique. The restaurant’s name translates to alternate-world restaurant because of its high standards.

Surely, you’re interested in learning more about that flawlessness? To learn more, pick up a copy of Restaurant to Another World and start watching.

13. Watashi No Coffee Samurai: Jihanki-Teki Na Kareshi

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 9/10 8/10 9/10 44/50

This next anime does not begin with anything that is food-related or anything that has coffee in it, but I can assure you that this anime is worth the recommendations. This anime begins with a samurai called Jin that desires to be reborn in a metal body after he is killed in battle.

Once in Seoul, this poor samurai reappears similar to a coffee vending machine in the modern and contemporary day. Jin’s fighting days are not finished. In the series, the coffee-rai and other similarly resurrected samurai engage in combat.

The story follows Hemi, buying drinks from Jin in a vending machine form. She unwittingly attracts the samurai’s love attention. Coffee and dating is taken to new heights in this anime.

Want to know how coffee and dating happened to take place at the same time? Watch Watashi No Coffee Samurai: Jihanki-Teki Na Kareshi to get an idea of how to do it.

12. Kodoku No Gourmet

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
19/20 7/10 10/10 9/10 45/50

This next anime is focused more on the food that the main character eats. The main character, Gorou Inogashira, is seen in this anime as he prepares and consumes his meals. He prefers to eat at low-cost establishments, and there is no mention of food in the comic.

We see this in the conversation of Gorou with the manga creators. One of the recommendations I have is Kodoku no Gourmet if you want to know more about those monologues.

11. Sweetness & Lightning

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
18/20 8/10 9/10 10/10 45/50

Cooking isn’t just a woman’s job—it is a non-gender based job to provide for oneself and others, as you’ll learn from this anime.

After the death of Inuzuka’s wife Tsumugi, he was left to raise her by himself. He couldn’t leave the convenience shop that cooked meals having a lack of cooking skills and his demanding teaching schedule. In order to provide a healthy supper for his daughter, he accepts Kotori Iida’s offer of dinner.

In the event that Kotori’s mother works full time, the restaurant wherein she normally eats is often closed, forcing her to eat alone. Kouhei remains there at Tsumugi to cook for Kotori after just a lot of persuading from his student.

Sweetness & Lightning delves deeply into cuisine, family, as well as the comfort food everyone takes daily.

10. Toriko

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
20/20 8/10 8/10 10/10 46/50

In this anime, the MC’s name is the title of the manga itself.

Restaurants often hire a superhuman just a hunter of precious dishes since the texture and flavor of food are so important in our culture.

As a result of Toriko’s genius, his timid accomplice joins him on the quest to capture the elusive and ferocious animals he desires to build the best dinner course.

To learn more, you may check out Toriko.

9. Moyashimon

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
19/20 9/10 8/10 10/10 46/50

Okay guys, this next anime is an 11-episode anime aired in 2010. The story began with Tadayasu Sawaki, a first-year college student, who possesses what may be described as broad peripheral vision. Microorganisms may be seen with naked eye by him due to a strange skill he has.

Sawaki can see germs of all kinds, including the fungi that inflict athlete’s foot and the yeast that is used to manufacture alcoholic beverages, and he sees them as adorable chibi animals. Professor Itsuki, an expert in fermentation, is one of several academics at his agricultural institution who are taken by his brilliance.

As a result, Sawaki enrolls in an agricultural high school in Tokyo. With the assistance of his quirky friends, he learns these apparent germs as well as his own unique abilities. Even though Sawaki is a genius, the university’s wacky faculty and students nearly make him look average.

Watch the anime to know more about Moyashimon.

8. Today’s Menu For The Emiya Family

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
19/20 9/10 9/10 9/10 46/50

This anime is more-likely focused on a chef that tries to provide for his family.

It all started when the city of Fuyuki was declared safe from the threat of war. Shirou has made the decision to cook for his family and Saber’s schooling.

He makes daily trips to the market in quest of low-cost meals prepared using locally sourced components. As a consequence of Emiya’s fame, the Emiya family meal is never empty. When Shirou is relaxing in the living room, he likes to show off his favorite meals. Fish roasted in foil and served with a bamboo stalk dish are part of his New Year’s meal.

If you’d want to see Shirou demonstrate his culinary prowess, I suggest checking out Today’s Menu For Emiya Family.

7. Poco’s Udon World

Poco’s Udon world

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
19/20 9/10 9/10 9/10 46/50

The next one we have here on our lists will be one of my top recommendations so far. The story begins when Tawara comes to his birthplace of Kagawa after a long absence from Tokyo. And although his parents aren’t anymore by his side, his old house and the udon business he used to run with them bring back happy memories of his childhood.

To begin with, Souta is unconcerned about the unexpected meeting and offers the young man food and clothes. To the boy’s dismay, a set of fuzzy ears as well as a tail appear out of nowhere. Soon, Souta discovers that the unnamed kid is in fact the long-rumored shape-shifting tanuki which has been roaming Kagawa for decades.

As Souta and Poko spend time together, and the bond he used to have with his father throughout the course of their relationship.

This following one is sure to whet your appetite, so I bet you like sweets. Well, this next anime will fulfill your cravings on something sweet.

Ichigo Amano, a cake enthusiast with aspirations of one day becoming a cake educator, is the protagonist of this manga. Ichigo had never seen a dish like at a food festival before. By this news, the cake maker, Henri Lucas, is overjoyed. Ichigo should attend St. Marie Academy, which teaches the next generation of pastry chefs.

She pleads in the monument on the first day she had at the university as a freshman. They’re known as the Sweets Princes since they each specialize in a distinct kind of sweet.

As a consequence, despite Henri’s compliments, she is regarded with her other classmates as an amateur. Ichigo pledges to practice every waking second of her life as a consequence of her failure to fight with her comrades.

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
19/20 9/10 10/10 9/10 47/50

Revolving around Kazuma Azuma, the story begins on a journey to develop Japan’s own distinctive national bread after experiencing the joys of breadmaking as a youngster. Azuma’s exceptionally warm hands help him to raise his baking ideas to a whole new level since they allow the dough to ferment quicker.

1. Grave Of The Fireflies

grave of the fireflies

Theme Plot Character Writing Art Total
19/20 10/10 10/10 10/10 49/50

Top on our list is this one. This is an anime movie that took place during one of the worst eras for Japan, World War II.

During the end of World War II, Japan suffers enormous damages of American bombers, destroying dozens of cities. This is about two Japanese kids whose souls are shattered by the horrific war.

They had lost their parents, their house, and the possibility of a promising future—all devastating results of the war.
